Ambleside

About the location

Fisherbeck Cottage is situated down a quiet lane, yet only a few minutes stroll from the centre of Ambleside. This Ambleside holiday cottage provides an excellent starting point for a varied Lake District holiday. Easily accessible via the A591 on the northern shores of Lake Windermere, Ambleside is a contemporary, characterful Lakeland village with a spectacular backdrop of Lake District fells.

Smaller than Windermere, Ambleside remains a popular destination for holiday-makers due to the great choice of restaurants, bars, cafes, shops and the variety of walks heading off in all directions.

Nearby is Windermere (3 miles), where you will find more shops, restaurants, and the Windermere Train Station, which links to the West Coast train mainline. Hawkshead (5 miles) is on the opposite side of the Lake, and you can get there via the car ferry from Windermere, or it's a lovely drive around the north end of the Lake.

Ullswater (10 miles) is over Kirkstone Pass - Well worth a visit to England's second-largest lake. On the way, stop at Kirkstone Pass Inn. At 1500m above sea level, you'll be in awe of the fantastic views!

The South Lakes will never disappoint - there is so much to do for everyone that you won't want to leave!
